To increase the public and political profile of Occupational Health Nurses in the Auckland region.
To promote and provide educational opportunities for Occupational Health Nurses working in the Auckland region.
The New Zealand Occupational Health Nurses Association Auckland Group, (AOHNA), is the professional body for occupational health nurses in the Auckland region. AOHNA is one of the ten regional groups that make up the National Executive of the New Zealand Occupational Health Nurses Association (NZOHNA).
Our purpose is to promote and assist professional development and to encourage occupational health
nurses to meet the competecy-based goals as required by the Nursing Council of New Zealand. We ensure that our members are the leading occupational health professionals in New Zealand by proving them with training opportunities and support to uphold our vision.
AOHNA's Education Fund is just one initiative that has been developed for this very purpose. The Education Fund is designed to provide financial assistance to members for their continued professional development, and applcations for grants are open to all financial members of AOHNA. NZOHNA members are granted automatic membership of their local group, i.e. AOHNA for Auckland members, and receive the many benefits of being part of a national network of like-minded professionals including:
- Reduced membership rates for access to the NZOHNA conference,
- Subscription to the bi-monthly national bulletin, "Short Takes".
- Access to a national network of current occupational health information and resources.
- Regular AOHNA meetings and training days.
- Assistance with professional development.
- A regional and national professional support base.
